today i learnt how make fondant icing. it's those type of hard sugary icing that people usually use for wedding cakes. something like this..

with fondant icing, the possibilities are endless. i can transform a simple buttercake into anything that comes to mind.

dont worry muffins, i haven't done a Nordin and jumped into a white tiger exhibition. i've been enjoying life after exams and blogging seems to be the last thing on my mind right now. although i have 5 entries pending with a gazillion photos to be edited, i hate the feeling of the obligation to blog. furthermore, its not like i see a line of protest happening in regards to my absence.

so i'm gonna enjoy this freedom of obligation and only blog my intensely overdued entries as and when i feel like it. also, this absence begets my search for a new direction, both in life and and my blog.

recently, i was at my father's club to attend this event where they hand out study grants to the children of their members. and of course i was lucky enough to receive that study grant. $$$

the whole event started with this ridiculously hilarious performance. where 6 tone death performers decided to butcher a couple of Abba songs.

it felt like being at the auditions for american idols. you know, the part where they show all those sucky performers and you laugh at them. but hey, the mood at the event was rather dull and this performance did lighten up the atmosphere.

the event continued with several speeches by the guest of honour and the chairman of the club. so i decided to sneak to the toilet to while the time away.

of course i cant resist a mirror camwhore moment.

luckily i had my nintendo ds with me to keep me awake throughout the whole event. and so the event ended and we hang around for a little bit while my parents chatted witht heir friends.

he needed to look for an outfit to wear for some event so i decided to lend my expertise in picking clothes.

to note: i have no idea what the lecturer's name is and since she reminds me of that woman from The Sound Of Music, i decided to christen her Julie as in julie andrews.

its all about effort

friendship is about effort.

you go through certain phases in life like school, cca or work and you make friends. over the years, if you no longer put in effort to keep in touch with these friends, the friendship will just drift apart.

with msn and sms being more widespread than melamine in every china product, keeping in touch is so easy no matter how busy you are.

like i said, its all about effort. how much you put in is how much that friendship is valued to you.

thats why, no matter how busy our schedules are, we (my poly gang and i) make it a point to get together every month.

this time around we met up for dinner at Kenny Roggers Suntec City.

no pictures of food this time round as i only had my camera phone with me. i did take some pictures of the ribs and roasted chicken but they didnt turn out too nice for me to blog. i seriously need a camera soon.

was thinking of a nice place that we can head to after dinner and since we were too full and lazy to venture anywhere else, we decided to take the escalator up to KBox.

well, you see i'm not a big fan of going to such places. firstly, i hate the fact that they have mostly chinese songs to pick from. and secondly, i cant sing for nuts. and when i do, it not only rains, it pours. and thirdly, everytime i hold a microphone, i look like i'm about to give it a blow job. but since everyone else was keen on the idea, well, maybe it wont be so bad this time round.

well, the next thing i know, i reached home at 3am and my throat was sore from all the 'singing', especially when i screamed out the entire Bohemian Rhapsody. Twice.

talk about hating going to kbox. lol. another point that proves having a great time is not about what you do or where you go. its about the company.

DAMNNNNN!!

i was supposed to start studying on monday and now, its already thursday. exams are like only 1 week away can!!

seriously, i have no idea what i did for the past 3 days. apart from the non-stop binging at mcdonalds, watching gossip girls and other random online stuff, not a single studying was done.

alright, i better get to my lecture notes right after i finish this entry. well, maybe i'll do a little brunch just before that. and a couple episodes of Desperate Housewives perhaps.

as you might have noticed from the teaser on tuesday, this entry is gonna be another birthday entry. i know there's been a lot of birthday posts recently but i cant help it if all my friends celebrate theirs in the fall/winter season.

Happy Birthday Jiafang!!!

we passed her this really huge and colorful birthday present at the train station and made her carry it all the way to Kallang. she was like damn embarrassed la.

from Kallang Mrt we took a cab all the way to our secret location. even the taxi uncle was informed not to breathe any information about the destination.

Jiafang was expecting to go to the beach probably for a picnic or something.

but then the uncle stopped at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and we headed to our surprise location.

since my blog is turning into a food blog somehow, here are the obligatory pictures of what we had for dinner.

we decided not to have the main course and instead share all random items we liked from the menu.

chicken cobb salad.

chili cheese fries.

buffalo wings.

well first thing first. every since i had that chicken cobb salad, it has affirmed my disgust for blue cheese. and i am someone who loves cheese. for the benefit of those who have not tried blue cheese, it taste wet socks. not that i have tasted one before. but that's the closest discription i can give.
apart from that, the rest of the food we had was so-so. it wasnt exactly bad nor was it fantastic either. the food here is priced slightly above affordable with the salad being $18.99. so expect to pay at least $30 per person including drinks.
there is nothing much to mention about the service as it was slightly below lukewarm. although there were sufficient staff around, getting the attention of one is slightly tiring. they have a tendency to hover around the 'ang moh' customers like flies to a dustbin.
location is slightly inaccesbile unless you have a car but the whole atmosphere of the area was worth the travel.
to end this, head over to Brewerkz Indoor Stadium to chill out with friends over drinks instead of food because obviously, that is what their known for in the first place.

now the girls call me a messy eater.

i dont think so.

we told the staff in advance to suprise jiafang with the cake after we finished our dinner. we specifically told him it was our friend's birthday and requested whether we can get some staff to gather and sing a birthday song for jiafang.

he said, ''yeah sure''.

so we decided to distract jiafang by asking her to take pictures of me, sheryl and cecilia with the present, while we waited for the guy to come out with the cake, with the candle lighted up and a few staffs standing around singing Happy Birthday.

after quite a while of 'trying to distract jiafang'...

this china-woman staff glides by and just slides this plate of cake on the table. with a potruding UNLIGHTED candle in the middle of the cake and then made her way to another table.

MAJOR WTF!!!!

jiafang who was in the middle of taking our fotos (the distraction process) notices this chocolate cake on the table and had this 'oh did we order this?' look on her face. the other 3 of us had our jaws dropped to the wooden floors of Brewerkz.

we had to go around Brewerkz asking for a lighter to light the candle ourselves.

BLASPHEMOUS.

but thank god, jiafang's not the petty sort. so we quickly moved on to her other suprise, the big box she's been carrying all the way from city hall mrt.

of course there were other presents in the box like a dress and accesories to match but i dont seem to have the photos with me. haha.

so god forgive me for i cave in easily to temptations. so easily.

especially since i've brought my tripod along.

there were 3 boxes of sparklers in the box of presents and after i accidentally burnt my thumb on the first one. nobody dared to touch the sparklers for the rest of the night. LOL!

the semester lookback

finally, all the projects has come to an end. but this doesnt mean its time for rejoice. instead, now begins the mugging for the exams which are just around the corner.

lets take a look back into all the hecticity of the past couple of months.

we did our projects at many different places.

changi airport, where we were busily on our laptops till 11pm.

it was also my first time trying out the much raved about Popeyes. nothing special to me though. felt like just another KFC. the only thing different though was their mashed potato.

my verdict is, dont bother going all the way to changi aiport for Popeyes, your KFC at ang mo kio taste just the same.

we also did projects in school. well, obviously from the pictures it doesnt look like we're doing projects. but it somewhat is okay. we used dai dee to determine who compiles the project. HAHA!

and of course there was that time when we did project in the national library where all we could do was whisper. it was so frustrating the fact that we couldnt discuss that we decided to head to Ben & Jerrys for desserts.

what have made school even more exciting for me this time round was the many fashion moments i've had. and trust me, boy have i had many. my whole lecture can definitely attest to that.

from the high socks, to the vests and the bow ties, there has never been a day where its just tshirt and jeans with me. however contrary to popular belief, i don't enjoy the attention. all the constants stares and whisperings just makes me feel a little uneasy. what i enjoy is dressing up and not taking life too seriously.

on friday, i told myself that i will start on my Buyer Behaviour project on sunday.

damn it! i spent my entire afternoon editing photos. all 46 of them!!

yet again it's another birthday entry.

anyway, this time around is cecilia's birthday.

i met up with fang earlier in the afternoon to shop for her present. and we paid a visit to qiuyan who set up a stall at the Lime Flea Market at youthpark.

we decided to take little look around the flea market. the whole place was like sweltering ground for online shops. if you're a big fan of online shopping, then you should head down here. bring a fan though, it gets a little warm after like 2minutes. the sad thing though was that there was totally nothing for guys. i mean apart from the girls, none of the booth had anything for guys to look at. unless of course, you're into Hello Kitty hairpins.

finally found something for Cecilia and we headed down to Marina Square to meet her for dinner.

i'm a big fan of japanese food. places i usually frequent would be Sushi Tei and Waraku. the food at this places rocks way better than Sakae Sushi. Sakae Sushi is like for peasants y'all. i dont even understand why people eat the crap they sell at sakae.

so we headed down to one of my favourite jap restaurant, Waraku.

the Waraku at clark quay still ranks tops for me. my cheese cream udon here was slightly watery but apart from that everything else was scrumptious. the service was really nice and friendly and the staff always seem to have a smile when you asked them something. expect to pay somewhere around $25 onwards per person for dinner. the reasonable price paired with the really good food makes this place a must-go. waraku is also famous for their long queues. so if i dont feel like waiting 40minutes for the one in clark quay, i could always hop to this outlet for a 20minute queue instead. Waraku is a must-go for all japanese food fans.

after that really heavy dinner, decided to take a little walk to ease the digestion. and you know what else eases digestion.

the coffee club is more of a place to chill rather than a place for coffee. there was actually quite a number of choices for ice blends instead. the service there was really friendly as well as they helped us along with the suprise. drinks cost around $8 but it wasn't that fantastic for such a price. there wasn't much choices for desserts either. so if you're looking for a place with a nice ambience to chill, and you're more of an ice blend person instead of a true coffee lover, this is the place for you.

so we just sat there chatting bout random stuff when suddenly.....

it used to be "wow, this bag looks nice! i wonder if it'll match my wardrobe", everytime i go shopping.

school has officially taken over my life.

and with now being the project submission season, even meeting friends for dinner is difficult.

from july till the end of the year, i never run short of birthday events to attend. i dont know why but i guess most of my friends are 'second half of the year' baby. so if your birthday falls between july till december, it gives us a higher probability to become friends. haha!

so this time again, its another birthday entry.

so firstly we had dinner at Thai Express since we were kinda craving thai food.

so we went to the outlet at Esplanade.

we had

thai seafood noodles.

soft shell crab curry with rice.

personally i'm quite a fan of thai express. but the outlet at Esplanade only receives a borderline mark from me. firstly, the food. so terrbily lacklustre. the seafood noodle was on the verge of tastelessness, and the soft shell crab's curry was reminiscent of the time i vomitted out prata after after a highly intoxicated clubbing night. the service? it felt like we were served by a widow whose husband died yesterday. not one single smile throughout.

since, Baybeats (some music festival) was held right around the corner, it felt like we were dining in the middle of a linkin park concert, sweating as we eat since the aircon was on low or smthing. the only highlight of the dinner was that our ice water never ran out. everytime we had a sip, a waitress would be there with a jug.

overall, the whole experience kinda suck. if you like Thai Express, go to the Marina Square one. unless of course, you like ice water, then make your way to esplanade's.

i like the fact that we looked multi-colored that night.

O M G!!

i seriously didnt expect uni life to be THIS tedious.

i've always had a knack for coping and adapting to situations but right now, i seriously feel very pressured. and my constant need for sleep is really not helping.

now you see next week onwards i have 4 project deadlines one week after the other. and you think after that i'll be free?!

NO WAY!

after my final project submission, i have 2 weeks to prepare before exams start.

(and yes, the exam timetable is already out)

WTH!!!!

even ns wasn't this stressful can?!

so from now till mid november, i'll quarantine myself in my room doing projects and reading up on all my lecture notes. you definitely wont be seeing me sashaying down orchard road anytime soon.

unless of course, it's a special occasion. like somebody's birthday.

i met up with my poly friends to have dinner at Central. but waraku had a ridiculous queue that we decided to go this place that specialises in curry udon called Wakashachiya.

so after dinner we took a little walk and decided to chill at Brewerkz. angela and ivan joined us shortly after they finish watching some magic show at The Arena.

so we chilled at Brewerkz playing all those stupid drinking games and thank god this time i didnt keep losing. hahaha! i seriously suck at these drinking games can. my reaction is like damn slow!

we played until midnight and then a surprise came for Angela...

at the stroke midnight, angela turns 22!!!

i decided to dress quirky today for school. picked the theme nautical.

i just finished watching king kong on channel 5 and i cant believed i teared at the end of the damn show. but cmon la, i even cried watching finding nemo, so this is technically nothing. the show is damn sad can.

if you didnt catch the show, the whole gist of of the show is that king kong fell in love with this girl because of her beauty. then some people captured the beast and brought it to New York to show it to the world. in new york, it escaped in search for the girl and when it found her, brought her to the top of the empire state building to watch the sunrise. then it was shot to death.

the damn sad part is that he died just because of wanting something he adored.

but i cant help thinking that king kong probably has homesexual tendencies. the whole show was afterall, about king kong wanting not to part with his barbie doll.

anyways,

if you've been wondering what i'm up to recently, it's the same old thing. school and projects. but i do make time to meet up with my friends.

cause they make me happy.

met up with isaac for lunch. spent the rest of the day just talking.

to those who don't know me, i'm actually a very laidback person, some might call it boring but whatever. i enjoy spending quality moments chatting with my friends and catching up about each other's life. i find this more fulfilling and intimate.

but of course, there are times that i do have fun. and trust me, i know how to have fun.

then on another occasion i met up with my bff, andrew, after school.

and we went to Dempsey!

very lovely place but it's so hard to get there unless you drive.

and thank god andrew drives!

we went to this lovely place called House at Barracks or Barracks at House or something. i'm really bad at remembering names. haha!

very nice place with a lovely ambiance.

and one of their fixtures looks like you're sitting under a big table.

so cool! haha!

now another cool thing about the place is that they have paper and crayon on the table for us to doodle on while waiting for the food to arrive.

so i told andrew, ''lets draw out our favourite food!"

and so we did.

i was craving for some Ikea's poached salmon, so that's what i drew.

and then andrew drew this thing that looks like a hotdog and when i asked him about it he said noooo. it was actually a burger.

wtf?!

his defence? "hotdog buns don't have sesame seeds"

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

now, every time when i go somewhere nice to eat, i always like to check out the toilet. its like, if they put in so much effort for the interior decor, the toilet has to look nice too.

great ambience but unfortunately, the food was lacklustre. the prices are slightly on the steep side so expect somewhere around $50 per person for dinner. if the ambiance matters to you more than food and price, then head down to House.

after dinner, we decided to take a little walk while looking for a nice place to chill. since we were craving ice cream, the decision was made easier.

i was watching the Tyra Banks talkshow and they were interviewing this plus size girl about why she decided to quit joining beauty pageants.

her beauty pageant photos were posted on a forum online where she was wearing a tag number 108. and someone commented that the 108 was probably how much her left thigh weighed.

and she told tyra when she saw those comments, she was so devastated that she decided to quit the world of beauty pageants.

now ladies and gentlemen, this what i call when fat people live in denial.

didnt she know she was fat in the first place? and now she's unhappy that people are saying her thighs are fat. why did she join a beauty pageant in the first place?

i will never understand such people.

like how i'll never understand why girls wear sexy revealing clothes and get really pissed when people look at them.

did you guys miss me? i know i haven't been blogging since like forever. so what have i been up to?

there's like tonnes of school work and project work to be done and all the submission is in like 1months time. and then i've been meeting up with friends almost everyday after school to hang out. and then, when i'm free, all i wish to do is just curl up in my bed and snooze. especially with the lovely rainy weather we've been having. hahahaha!!

i don't know why it is that everyday after school i just feel so tired and sleepy. even if i woke up at 12 for my 2 pm class. sit in lecture for 3 hours. then by the time i reach home, all i wanna do is sleep.

but sleep isnt the only i do of course. i also eat!

i met up with sheryl, cecilia and jf after my class and we decided to go eat at this place Sheryl's been raving about, Upper Thomson!

noticed all the toothless smiles in the photos? i HATE taking buses!!

we ate at this place called Long Beach where they serve these yummy looking western food.. mmm!!

after that really yummy and heavy dinner, we decided to go for a little walk around the area to look for a nice place to chill later.

along the way, the girls decided to play 'Dress-Up Ali'.

which made me emo. and my emo-ness made everyone else emo too.

i think i should get that 'Mister Emo' shirt from newurbanmale.

and then sheryl suggested we go to this nice ice cream place to chill. and as i heard the words ice cream, my eyes lighted up and then me and jf just jump for joy!!

she brought us to this place called 'Icekimo'

and there were so many yummy choices of ice cream!

i kept eating and eating and eating!

the whole place was like damn cold and then i kept eating ice cream, so it got even colder. .

brrr..

we got the lovely staff at the place to lent us this deck of cards so we could play while eating their yummy ice cream!

so the first round. cecilia was the donkey.

i'm damned pissed la.

i rushed my essay till 4am yesterday night and after school today i told myself that i'm gonna go sleep right away after the 9pm show.

and at 8pm today i was like damn sleepy already, so once again i told myself to hang on for abit more until after that 9pm show. and so i made a cup of coffee.

note to self: cafe nova sucks.

i've always drink this cappa roma brand of coffee but then that day the supermarket didnt have it so i substitute it with this cafe nova brand. and it fucking sucks la. disgusting shit coffee.

then, it was 9pm. and guess what i saw when i switch on the tv. LHL!

but dont worry, i did do something okay.

i found most of the sources i need already and now, if only i know how to start typing my essay, i'll be fine.

stayed back in school to read up on all the textbooks, journals and articles that are like ultra damn wordy.

it was so mind-numbingly painful.

i nearly died.

thank god for coffee.

all this calls for drastic measures.

i shall not go out or blog over the weekend.

dear god

give me the motivation to start on my 1000 word essay on organisational behaviour. i had one whole day of free time today and i woke up at 2pm, cooked lunch, went online to read about hollywood gossips, slept again, ate dinner with my family, watched the 9 o clock chinese show and now i'm blogging. wasted one whole day.

there are people out there like james, who have completed the project and here i am hoping that you, God, read blogs. and hopefully chances upon mine and decide to grant me motivation. and while you're at it, i kinda want to lose weight and get a hot body as well. oh, and a Prada wallet too if it isnt too much to ask.

i know i should probably pray for world peace or to end world hunger but i'd save that for the finals of Mr Universe during the question and answer round. that is if when i get that hot new figure i asked for of course. ahem.

i've been procrastinating this entry for quite a while actually because every time i look at the folder of pictures to blog for this entry, there is like 128 photos in total.

the thought of editing 128 photos itself is already nauseating. but i manage to sit down and go through all 128 of them and after going through one by one painstakingly, i've decided on blogging the ones that i look nice in only. hahaha! which is like 56 of them still.

if my full time job is a blogger or i'm getting paid to do this, then i wouldnt mind editing all the 56 photos that i've narrowed down to. but since i'm not, fuck editing.

i met up with 2 of my classmates from poly who's sooo busy right now with their career that its almost hard to settle on a meetup. but they managed to slot in dinner on a weeknight.

it's always nice to take a walk after dinner. but we were still too high and hyper and ended jumping all over the place!

and then we got tired.

PINK WALLS! * insert bimbo jokes here* actually they were more of fushia than pink. probably a mix of fushia and magenta and pink.

too much of pink almost made my blonde roots grow 2 inches longer. so we had to leave for some fresh air.

not quite.

all these pictures are making my head spin.

now, every time we take fotos, we'd use multiple flash. let's say each multiple flash lets out 3 flash. and since we took a total of 128 photos, in total we got flashed at 384 times!!!

we got so nauseous at the end of the night that we couldnt even sit properly.

and soon, the security decided to call the relevant authorities. if only we could take more fotos for the night, but too bad we were all strapped up in our strait jackets while we were wheeled back into the van bound for the mental house.

so i finally managed to catch the dark knight with melvin. and i'm not slow in watching movies k. i'm just slow in blogging.

we decided to catch it at AMK Hub's Cathay. my first time watching a movie there though i live like only 5 minutes away from the place.

and if you havent caught the movie, you should. it fan-fucking-tastic!

although i think they should rename the show to The Joker instead cause it revolves so much around him. the best part of the show was when the joker dressed up in the nurse outfit. i nearly snorted out my coke laughing can!!!

my only happy day in SIM

she came allll the way to SIM just to sit in lecture with me and she even brought me chocolate. see how happy i am!

i only had morning class that day so we took a bus to SP to eat.

i misss SP soooo much!!!

i hate bus rides!

we ate at foodcourt 6. our usual business block foodcourt. it still looks the same. the nuggets are still 4 for $1. the whole place like damn fucking nostalgic.

then after lunch, we decided to camwhore at a really nice location in school. the red bridge.

and you know what?! the lift was out of order, so we had to take the stairs all the way to the 5th floor. and you know how much i hate stairs!

yes yes, i know i have a long whiny list of things i hate.

anyways. it was midday and the sun was brightly above our heads. but i love the effect.

the guys couldnt stand our camwhoring and decided to commit suicide.

they threatened to jump off the 5th floor so yeah, we decided to stop. also because i was starting to sweat.and since i didn't bring the whole entourage of hair and makeup with me, i didnt wanna risk sweating everything off.

emo rant

note: this entry is gonna be purely emo ranting. skip if you're only here to look at photos.

as according to Maslow hierarchy of needs theory, a person has 5 levels of needs. in the order of basic, safety, social, esteem and self actualisation. i'm not here to preach business textbooks theories, although i'm in the midst of reading my 3rd one for my project, bleah.

what i'm trying to say is how my life is lacking in every level of the needs. i know, you'll be rolling your eyes saying that probably yourself or the auntie that sells tissue at ang kio central has more of a difficult life then i do. but hey, this is my blog and i'm gonna talk about MY problems. that auntie can jolly well blog about her problems of declining market share of the tissue peddlers in her own blog if she wants to. by the way, if you want my 2cents, i think the tissue peddling market is kinda saturated. how bout diversifying to other stuff. maybe sell sweets or something.

anyway.

life sucks.

now lemme go into details.

firstly, my room is in a mess. my closets can no longer fit all my clothes and i've resorted to hanging the remainder on a bamboo pole attached to the ceiling by strings. so technically my room now looks like a walk in closet with a bed, a desk, a chair and my desktop. a very messy desk with highlighters, pens and lecture notes everywhere.

next, i'm having a terrible pimple outbreak and bad hair days. i blame it on the lack of water consumption, stress and the late nights. i've resorted to wearing caps to school to hide my hair and face. will somebody please recommend me a good pimple cream. from now on i'm gonna sleep by midnight and drink water like it's sauvignon blanc.

another thing. i have quite a few bags that i've accumulated over the years and since i barely most of them, i keep them stacked in my closet. and you know what happened. there's that mildew thingy on it due to the humidity and also because i stacked them to tightly together. and some has even started to peel okay. two of my puma limited edition bags are peeling so bad i had to throw them away. i'm so gonna buy all the thirsty hippo that my econ minimart has and place them everywhere in my room. like 5 in every closet.

and i'm getting fat. i need to do a sport. the only part of my body getting thinner are my fingers from all the blogging.

oh i'm damn broke too. its gotten so bad to the point that i've even thought of eating at kopitiams.

my love life. i'm immensely private about this aspect of my life, so i'm not even gonna say anything about it.

oh, and this next factor in my life right now is the most fucked up. so i'm gonna spend 25 paragraphs talking about..

WHY SCHOOL SUCKS!

it takes me like a 45 minute bus ride just to reach school and you know how much i HATE taking the bus.

i'm forever late every morning because i can't decide what to wear. and also because i got nothing to wear. some of my friends' been telling me to plan the night before so that i wont waste so much time in the morning to decide. but i just cant do it. i'm a mood dresser. i usually dress according to what i'm feeling that day. so if i took out a white tshirt and skinny jeans the night before, and then i'm feeling fat in the morning, then i definitely cant wear that white tshirt right? i'll look like a cow. and somemore the skinny jeans. even worse. i'll look like part cow, part dumpling.

its been like 1 month since school started and i still got no friends okay?! damn sad can!

how ironic issit that people label me a social butterfly. maybe because i've grown too fat so i cant really fly. now, i'm just social butter. i melt cause i cant handle the heat.

i mean if you have a class of 300+ people and its only lectures without tutorials, you dont really have a chance to strike conversations. and somehow everyone has formed their own mini cliques consisting of people they knew from poly and this makes it even harder.

and you know what i noticed about SIM. nobody smiles at people who're not in their cliques. everyone's like fucking unfriendly okay. during break time, as i was grabbing a stick of fishballs at the snacks kiosk, i smiled at this girl as i passed to her the tongs to grab the fishballs. and she stared at me like i killed her parents like that.
and this isnt uncommon okay. when i smile or make small talk to people, i usually get this stare like i just asked them whether their mum goes for a brazilian. its either that or that 'i didnt see your smile so i'm gonna act like i didnt see you' look.
fucking terrible k.

you know how some people go to school cause they look forward to meeting their friends. i go to school cause i look forward to going home.

but fuck it, i have many other friends. so i just have to bear with this shit for 1.5 years. this is like my main motivation for my degree right now.

should i even mention about my projects. constantly increasing like the numbers on my weighing scale. OMG!! and the amount of research to be done is sooooooooo ridiculously absurd.

WTF LA!! LIFE SUCKS!!

not even listening to Jason Mraz's Life Is Wonderful on repeat is assuring me at all.

i'm gonna take a bottle of sleeping pills and hopefuly everything will be better when i wake up. on the other side.

the haircut

i have a bad habit of not blogging in chronological order. usually i'll just blog first whichever event that i've gotten all the pictures ready. but then this little entry was preventing me from doing that.

if you hadn't read the title, this entry is about the day i went to get my haircut. so you see, if i dont blog chronologically, you'll be wondering why my hair was short in one entry and then suddenly long in another. it might just generate enough rumours of me going for extensions. its bad enough that rumours of my natural hair color being black is surfacing.

anyways...

so charmaine called me up one day and asked me whether i needed a haircut cause her friend, who's a hairstylist is looking for a hair model.

my hair has gotten quite long. and ever since ns, i much prefer having a shorter hairstyle.its so much easier to maintain, fuss free and feels so much cooler.

so why not?

one little catch, the place is located in some opposite side of the world in east coast. so i met up with charmaine at Toni&Guy east coast after my 45minutes mrt and bus ride.

so when Derek, the hairstylist asked me what i wanted. i only had one criteria.

i told him, "make me look slimmer!!"

and off he went scissors-happy snipping away.

and i managed to sneak in a couple of fotos while he was getting the hairdryer. hahaha!

after he was done with me, it was charmaine's turn to get her hair blowed dry to make her curls even more bouncier.

this woman seriously la, enjoying the good life, comes to Toni&Guy to wash her hair and get her curls touched up. by the director some more lei. like tai tai man!!!!

and while waiting for that looooooooooooooong process of rolling her hair up one roller by one roller, i decided to camwhoreeeee and read Vogue too la but camwhoring more interesting!!!

yup!!!

so before we left, of course i had to take a foto with my really cute hairstylist.

he looks even cuter in real life can! wahhahahahahaha!

all that sitting down and getting my haircut has certainly made me hungry.

and something really sinful was round the corner but since i'm already here, might as well have some right?

well then, i guess i better get back to typing my marketing research report. oh the good life.

i have to admit, i'm not such a huge fan of High School Musical but Hairspray was what made me notice Zac Efron. he is one those male young hollywood who i consider to have a really good sense of style, whether on or off the red carpet.

so yeah. this picture is taken off the latest issue of Elle where he does a photo shoot with Vanessa-thevaginaflasher-Hudgens and Ashley-hesayshesay-Tisdale.

Thai Express With The Campmates

as i walked out of my house today, it was as if i walked onto a stage where i had a mic in my hand, ready to belt out Mariah Carey's Touch My Body with all the dance moves already choreographed in my head. then, as i made my entrance, the smoke machine blew. funny though how i started to get the vibe of singing in a sleazy karaoke lounge to a crowd of late forties as they sip on their Martell while their hands busy on the overly dolled up hostess at their side.

but that didnt matter, as i realise that this was my big debut. as if on cue, i gave my backup singers, Kay Kay, Chantay and May May, the nod and the music comes on. as i was about to belt my first note in falsetto, i noticed the smoke machine starting to go on overdrive. and i started to cough and choke.

and then i snap back to reality.

damn Sumatra and their neverending forest fire, i thought to myself. as i got down the lift on the ground floor, it then hit me... oh, it has begun.

the hungry ghost month.

in this era of global warming and anti pollution, shouldn't somebody have invented burning of the hell notes online already. if these pollution continues, i bet Mediacorp will start putting the PSI index on the top left hand side of our tv screens by monday.

on other news,

today's entry is a little bit overdued cause i had to wait damn long to get the photos from shahul.

its been almost 2 months since i left the hells of national service and i decided to meet up with some of my friends from camp.

we decided to have dinner at Thai Express Marina Square.

as you can tell from the pictures, the food is nothing less than yummy! i really love thai express as i think the food here is really good and its reasonably priced. and their service is actually quite good as well. maybe its some thai hospitality thing. god knows!

its nice catching up with friends that you havent met in a while.

okay then.

i hope you guys have your weekends packed with exciting and fun stuff to do with your friends and family. for me, well, i'll be stuck at home reading 3 different textbooks and comparing their views on organisational behaviour.

while you guys go shopping happily in town this weekend. i'll be stuck doing my 1000 word essay.

BFFs Does Desserts

school project works are starting to bundle up but then the whole stress of the 6 assignments have yet to sink in. probably gonna happen some time soon. and when it does, i go into hyper panic mode.

for some people when they're stressed, they tend to let it out by doing a little retail therapy and there's some who looks at jogging as another outlet.

but in my case. i eat.

and like i said before, there are people out there who claims to have a sweet tooth. but me, nahh. i got sweet TEETH!

so i met up with andrew after his work for a little satisfaction of those sweet teeth of mine.

the irony of low fat latte paired with a tiramisu. sometimes i wonder why i even bother to make it low fat in the first place. *rolls eyes*

and after dessert we took a little stroll around Borders so that i wont feel THAT BAD about all the calories.

and when the camera comes out....

well yups, you get the idea.

Salmon Fusilli Alfredo

Salmon Fusilli Alfredo - Ali Joe's Version

once again, a very simple recipe. takes around 30 minutes to make and serves 1.

i like the colored ones cause its so much nicer to look at. and it will stand out from the cream sauce. i know. like so himbotic right?

*flicks hair*

i know that i'm like forever using capsicum. but, the thing is, i like capsicum. but if you dont like it, you can always substitute it with carrots or peas.

you can get this from your supermarket all nice and already cut up for you.

and to make the sauce, i have a little secret ingredient.

you can't tell anybody kay? this secret stays between us.

i use this to make the sauce. basically i'm just pure lazy la. muahahaa!!

Other Ingredients
- olive oil
- salt & pepper
- dried rosemary (comes in those bottles of different different herbs at the supermarket)

firstly, boil your fusilli and drain it.

then heat up some olive oil in a pan and fry the salmon. add in some rosemary. don't fry for too long cause salmon cooks really fast.

i know my camera's quality like damn bad. will somebody please donate to the "Save Ali Joe's Sanity With Retail Therapy" Fund. or like get me advertisers to do advertorials in my blog.

after the salmon is done. heat up a pan and add in like 5 big tablespoons of the sauce and add like 3 tablespoons of water to dilute it abit.
add in capsicum. stir till the sauce starts to boil.

now put the pasta on a plate. pour the sauce over and add the salmon on top.

TADAH!!! all done.. please ignore my ugly retro looking plate.

and if you're asking me why i don't garnish it with like parsley or something. well, i'm just gonna put that parsley at the side of the plate anyway. waste money buy parsley and don't eat for wad?
poor thing ar the parsley. like its life purpose is solely to look pretty and when its 5 seconds of fame is over, it'll just be discarded to the side.

it sucks to be a parsley.

anyways, i do hope all my little cooking entries has inspire you to go beyond Maggi Mee for dinner when mum's not cooking. it really isn't that hard to whip out a decent one dish meal that waaay tastier and healthier. and it doesnt even take that much time.

Mirror Camwhoring

well i'm sure all of you looove shopping. well maybe most of you. there's like probably a minority of you out there who still has your mum buying your clothes for you. i personally can't imagine my parents shopping for me at this age. everything might just look really retro or something. but that's cool cause i can pass it off as vintage.

and of course i do get like passing statements from my parents like 'what on earth are you wearing?' and asking 'why are your jeans so tight?'. to clear the fact, they're actually skinny jeans.

but today i heard a whole new one.

as i poured a glass of water for myself in the kitchen, my mum was retrieving all the dry laundry. and she was exclaiming to me, '' how come your underwear all so colourful one? wear so nice underwear also who can see?"

if you didnt understand what my mum said, probably you arent singaporean cause thats like how our local lingo is. its loosely translated to ''my dear boy, why do you have so many brightly coloured undergarments? i dare say nobody will notice whether you're wearing such a fancy smancy undergarment."

and my reply was.

"nice whaaaaat!"

ANYWAY

back to what i was talking about, Shopping.

sometimes when you shop with your friends and they're trying on something and there doesnt seem to be anything in the store that you fancy, what do you do?

Food Review: Bakerzin

another direction that i want to gear this blog towards to is doing reviews. and as you can tell from my plus-size figure, ahem, food is definitely one of my vices. especially when it comes to dessert, i get a little hedonistic.

Food Review

Venue: Bakerzin Paragon
Time: 4pm
Accomplice: Shaiful

you know how your legs start to hurt after going through one store after another. or when you start to get a little sore after elbowing other people at the Zara sale. well yeah, shopping can be such hard work sometimes.

so i use this as an excuse to have a little tea break with my friend in between all the retail mayhem.

since Bakerzin is nicely situated in the heart of one of my favourite malls in Singapore, Paragon, we decided to pop by for a little tete-a-tete.

oui?

after being shown to our seats and examining the menu, shaiful decided on the Sweet Pleasure cake.

now this cake comes across to me, taste-wise, as the result of a union between Kit Kat and Kinder Bueno. a little bit too crumbly and dry for my liking though. you see i like my cakes to be rich but not overtly creamy. the portion is just nice for one so you wont get incredibly jelak (that sick taste) after you nibbled the whole slice.

for drinks, he ordered an italian soda called Strawberry Lavender Lime. the thing about italian sodas are that they're really refreshing, i'm a big fan of the Peach Lychee one from Pastamania.

in my case, i can never be satisfied with just one measely dessert so i had to have 3.

i went for the Vanilla Creme Brulee. very yummy indeed. tasted very much like the filling of egg tarts being slightly burnt at the top without the crust. i like it.

then i went for the Caramel Panna Cotta. the caramel tasted more like bitter coffee though. not very nice.

and my third dessert was this Banana Pizza with Cinnamon Ice Cream. the banana pizza was a little soggy and tough to cut and when it was served to the table, the ice cream was already half melted. the whole taste was very reminiscent of a soggy goreng pisang with vanilla ice cream. nothing special.

i chose the Macchiato to sip in between desserts. personally, i'm a big fan of macchiatos, i usually get myself a venti caramel macchiato whenever i need a caffeine perk. and from my knowledge macchiatos have a lot of milk in them. this had none. it was just expresso with a dollop of foam. what happened to my milk?!

i didnt like it one bit by the way.

oh wells.

Service-wise.

the service wasnt very prompt at all. it was 4pm and i admit it was a little crowded with other customers having their tea break as well. we had to ask a waiter walking past to show us to our seats before we got one. the service staff were either really busy moving around or they've just probably perfected the art of acting busy (good skill for those who want to sign on with the army).

obviously, service with a smile was never in the staff training syllabus either. though i wouldnt say the staffs were being rude, i guess they took the word customer service really, literally. as in take the order and serve the food. period.

well, we did however get prompt service at one point of time. that is when we called for the bill. they look really keen in clearing our plates too. and since they like clearing the table it so much, i do hope SembCorp, our friendly neighbourhood waste disposal company, are hiring. i might put it a good word or two.

well then. overall i wouldnt say it was an unpleasant experience. it was just 'like that lor' kind of experience. nothing overwhelmingly pleasant either.

note: if you're going there, and important thing to bring is really good company. that was my only salvation.

Overall Bakerzin Paragon gets 2 out of 5 stars from me.

Beef Stir Fry Spaghetti

alright, well most of you probably know by now that i loooove to cook. but there one little thing about cooking that i don't like, and i'm not talking about the cleaning up cause you can always leave that to either your maid or your mum. i'm talking about those dishes with the ultra complicated recipes. you know, those that probably take you, 5hours to prepare and 2hours to cook.

like what's the point right? i like food that easy to prepare, meaning getting groceries is a snap, and damn fast to cook.

so today's special recipe is something really easy peasy that anyone could do it. around 10minutes of prep work (or probably 15 minutes if you cut damn slow using a knife) and 15minutes cooking time. and serves 1.

its called ...

plus some spaghetti enough for 1 person and 2 tablespoon of olive oil.

cook the spaghetti for however long the packet tells you to. usually its like 8 minutes.

heat the pan, add in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and when the oil is hot add in the garlic. toss around for like 1 minute and then add in the beef slices. followed by the 2 chopped up chilli padi. just stir fry for like 10minutes and then add in the capsicums. dont stir fry the capsicum for too long or else it will be soggy.

remember : we like our capsicums nice and hard ;)

after like probably 2 minutes of stir frying the capsicums, now add in the already cooked spaghetti.

MAKE SURE YOU DRAIN THE SPAGHETTI FIRST!!

we're making a beef stir-fry, not a beef soup spaghetti mind you.

toss it around for about 2minutes and add salt and pepper to your liking.

and then ...

place everything nicely in a plate...

without flash/ with flash

looks simple right?

well, IT IS!! a very easy peasy light dinner and it healthy too!!!

Of Headline News and Polymates Gathering.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!

did you guys read the news lately?

no, its not the one where the chairman of Tangs was charged in court for trying to illegally buy a kidney from a living donor.

and nope it not about the 53yr old female tourist from Seoul who got shot in North Korea after she strayed into a military zone during a morning beach stroll. the military people claimed that the woman fled when challenged and didn't even stop when the soldiers opened warning shots. thus, resulting them in no choice but to open fire.

now the $50 million dollar question is, of all the places in the world why did she have to take a holiday in the military unstable communist locale of North Korea and to be strolling at a beach next to a military zone at dawn for the matter of fact.

i say she was just begging for it.

i hope she wore something nice though, can you imagine getting shot dead wearing 'This Fashion'. not a memorable ending to 53 yrs of living.

oh no, major sidetracking!

the news that i'm referring to is something of more a IMPORTANT matter.

They Bloody Increased The Damn Fucking Cab Fare AGAIN!!

OMG! Can you believe it?!

and their reason was the rise of fuel prices and cost of ERP.

my fault issit?

no right? then you increased my fares for what? FOR WHAT?

i don't think the fault here lies in the taxi driver. but all they do is complain. fuel prices go up, you see a segment in the news where they interview taxi drivers for their views.

which in other words mean that they complain. always the same old thing, like not being able to cover the cost, fuel prices, ERP, yada yada yada.

i think those editors at these news station had to work overtime every time somebody interviews a taxi driver. have you actually been in a cab and heard how much a taxi driver can complain? ERP lah, traffic jams, lousy female drivers, people combing hair in the cab, the dropping value of US dollar, etc etc.

i just think that these drivers get cooped up in the cab for too long that they tend to go mental and rattle off to anybody about everything under the sun. like M1.

so, the cab drivers can't make more money. aren't we already paying for the ERP that we pass through and shouldn't the ALREADY increased fares do justice to the rise in fuel prices.

like that also not enough meh? then whose fault? my fault? then don't drive cab la.

you don't see me complaining about not being able to get the Prada wallet i've been eyeing or finding that perfect gladiator sandals for guys right?

i say this whole lot of cab drivers are just a bunch of greedy people who are always unsatisfied about something.

i think the main culprit here is the cab companies. well, there is another main culprit of course, but i shall not mentioned about them just in case my tiny little blog becomes evidence for treason.

well, the least that cab companies could do is either reduce the cab rent or probably work out something with petrol companies for reduced prices for cab drivers. what's happening right now are merely short term solutions. they need to think long term.

well now, let's move on to even MORE significant topics.

Polymates Gathering

in conjunction with an ultra belated birthday celebration of Maddie, Yasi and Huiming, a long postponed gathering was necessary.

its been a really long while since the whole lot of us met up. probably due to everybody's tight work/school schedule. this time round , we decided on dinner at Waraku at Central.

its my first time there and after hearing wonderful reviews from a lot of people regarding how scrumptdelicious the food there was. i began to salivate, on a heavy flow basis. but the downside to Waraku is the loooooong waiting time before you can get a table as the whole place is constantly packed to the brim.

and so to pass time waiting for our tables and for the rest who've yet to come, only one thing comes to mind.

yup, you knew it. CAMWHORING!

since me and yasi were the first ones to arrive, we got the first shots.

and after we ran out of poses, we can always challenge each other on mario kart while waiting.

and continue again.

after we FINALLY got in. we were such starved souls that we just ordered and ate everything on the spot and totally forgot about taking pictures of the oh-so-yummy food we had. but we did manage one shot in the restaurant.

and that was it. everything else was such a blur, i was just busily tucking in to everything at the table.

thats how you know if the food is good. i don't have photos of it. LOL!

after dinner we took a little walk along the Singapore river and and was deciding on a nice place to chill.

saw this magic show in the middle of The Cannery that area. but they kept talking and talking and explaining how everything worked that it became such a bore after 10minutes.

in the end we settled on Attica.

where we sat down and played this game called 5-10. which i TOTALLY SUCKED AT.

can you believe it i lost 8 times in a row. BLOODY 8TIMES DAMNIT!!!

and through out donno how many rounds we played, in total i was like the major loser.

i was like the MAJOR loser man! checked out my stoned face after a while. and there was yasi who was the second most loser.

angela kept winning okay. its like NO FUN AT ALL.

after that maddie decided to be anti-social since she doesn't drink and took out her Nintendo DS and played Guitar Hero.

which everybody was drawn to until somebody took out a camera and then....

we then decided to play a game. The Couple of The Night contest.

it was between kath-zhiwei.

yasi-maddie.

i still can't decide who should claim the title of Couple of the Night. what you think?

Vegetarian Sheperd's Pie - Ali Joe's Version

if some of you didn't already know, i enjoy cooking. i like to spend my free time browsing through cooking books at the library. then i'd borrow this books home and attempt those scrumptdelicious recipes i can find.

well, i've been looking at some Sheperd's Pie recipes and well, i decided to make one. but with a little twist. as you all know sheperd's pie uses ground beef (those from cows that cant fly) as the base, but since i had beef sukiyaki from Pepper Lunch 2 days ago and a rib eye steak yesterday night for dinner, a beef sheperd's pie would be like cholestrol overload.

so i ventured on a Vegetarian Sheperd's Pie, ali joe's version.

Firstly, boil 3 large potatoes until they're really nice and soft and then mash them up.
also, add a little dash of milk to make the mash potato creamier.
some salt and pepper to taste.
and a handful of grated parmesan.

and then make a little box shape using aluminium foil and add a few spoonfuls of the mash potato to make a 1cm mash potato base.

personally, i'm not a huge vegetable eater but i do like capsicums. and the great thing about capsicums is that when u saute them for a while they become soft and sweeter.
so i used half of a big red capsicum. cut them into cute squares.
add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil (cause i like it tight) to a pan.
add one chopped garlic for that yummy garlicky smells you get in Italian food.
and then saute (pan fry) the capsicum until it's soft and slightly burnt cause u want it to caramelise.
oh, i also added a sprinkle of rosemary to bring out the aroma.

i know this picture looks like crap. i need a better camera.

after that, put it on top of that base layer of mash potato we made just now and even it out.

okay, now add the remaining mash potato left on top of the capsicum.
make sure its all nice and covered like a nun.

well, we then add cheese to the top of the mash potato. originally, you're suppose to use mozarella but then i didn't ave any at home so i substitute it with those Kraft cheese slices that you use to make sandwiches.

to top it off, add a generous sprinkle of parmesan.

alright, now put it into those little oven toasters which i find extremely handy to have. and set the timer for 8 minutes.

make sure the toaster's plug is switched on cause when i came to check in 5 minutes, i noticed that it wasn't even switched on. LOL!!

and while waiting, you can either clean up the mess you made or you can leave it to the maid(or your mum) while you enjoy a nice glass of ice green tea.

TING!

as the little bell for the mini oven goes off, now you can take out the vegetarian shepherd's pie.

please be careful cause its damn hot. like duh!

okay now, you can use a knife and cut it up into little squares and serve it to your family or whoever else that dares to try your cooking.

scrumptdelicious!!!

taste yummy and cheesey. next time, i'm gonna use meat. cause i'm like a really devout carnivore. but this vegetarian version is nice and healthy nonetheless.

A New Chapter Unfolds & The Chomp Chomp Adventures

so i decided to pen down my thoughts, dilemmas and other adventures in a new location.

why the move from my 5 yr blog, Realitee?

well, it's like why do people who have stayed in Bishan all their lives decide to move to Bukit Timah (for those non-Singaporean readers, these are names of estates in Singapore)? a most viable answer would be i seek a new environment.

the desire for leaving all the baggage behind and adopting a new fresh start has always seem appealing to me.

through my eyes, i see life as a satire by the gods and fate. and as i grew with age, i learnt to have a chuckle with life's idiosyncrasies.

and thus the name MisterIrony.blogspot.com!

The Chomp Chomp Adventures

i met up with the TLLM group, sans Sheryl, a few days back. its really hard to get the whole group of us together as everyone's busy with either work or school and some other random commitments.

so i met up with Jiafang and Cecilia after they finished work and we decided to go to Chomp Chomp for a night of gastronomical pleasuring.

BRAVE me taking a bus from ang mo kio mrt. BRAVE? those who know me will recall my STRONG dislike for buses.

the lovely view of the evening sky before and after it was marred by a bunch of birds that i have no idea what their names are.

i don't understand why we have birds everywhere. they serve no purpose but to shit on people and eat scraps from dustbins and leftovers from tables at hawker centres. a bunch of nuisance. i suggest we just build a really big cage at Jurong where the Bird Park is, and contain them there only. can't the government do anything about this? and no, another ERP is not a solution.

we were so excited to be there, we took photos with the signboards. =)

there were so much choices of food to choose from and in the end we picked these.

oh and to quench of thirst, the mother fucking big-ass jugs of sugarcane juice.

after that scrumptious dinner, we decided to walk around the area a little bit.

and then we got tired and breathless. we're not 19 anymore you know?

then we decided to go to our favourite locale to chill in Serangoon Gardens, a place aptly called Friends.

the whole layout of the place is just really perfect to chill with your friends.

and since we were feeling rather peckish but not hungry either cause we just ate half of Chomp Chomp, we decided to share this really yummy Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream.

and we while away the night talking about everything under the stars.

edit note: i finally edited and changed all the god damn how many pictures from blogger to photobucket upload. at least it doesnt fuck up the alignment anymore. i hope.
